10:40 <popey> #startmeeting Dekko meeting 10:40 <meetingology> Meeting started Thu Sep 29 10:40:10 2016 UTC. The chair is popey. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology. 10:40 <meetingology> 10:40 <meetingology> Available commands: action commands idea info link nick 10:40 <popey> hello hello 10:40 <faenil> hello hello 10:40 <DanChapman> hello hello 10:40 <popey> Hows things this week? 10:41 <DanChapman> Busy as always. :-) 10:41 <DanChapman> Yourself? 10:42 <popey> Same :) 10:43 <popey> Much feedback from the snap of dekko in the store? 10:43 <popey> only a few users it seems.. 10:45 <DanChapman> Yeah the feedback has been ok for the few that have tried it. No real surprises so that's good. I suppose ot would have to be in stable channel to get larger download counts 10:46 <DanChapman> There's some issues with unicode fonts and cjk fonts seem to just not work. Need to figure out what packages are needed for that 10:48 <popey> Hm, these are fonts outside the package? 10:50 <DanChapman> I'm not sure. Dekko only uses the ubuntu font so i presumed all that would get pulled in when installed the ui toolkit etc. 10:50 <popey> hm 10:50 <popey> is there a bug filed? 10:53 <DanChapman> There is now :-) https://bugs.launchpad.net/dekko/+bug/1628873 10:53 <popey> heh 10:53 <DanChapman> I'll add some screenshots shortly 10:53 <popey> any chance we can get a screenshot or something from the person who reported it? 10:53 <popey> heh 10:53 <popey> okay :) 10:53 <popey> I have seen this issue with some of my own packages 10:54 <popey> and others have reported similar, and ponder if it's indeed a packaging issue or some environment setup or indeed snap itself 10:54 <popey> but yeah, needs a closer look 10:55 <DanChapman> ahh http://askubuntu.com/questions/797036/chinese-characters-rendered-as-squares-in-snap 10:55 <faenil> DanChapman: the thing is, what happens when you need packages that are part of the seeded image? 10:55 <faenil> i.e. they're not direct dependencies, because the packages know that they're always available 10:56 <faenil> (I know that sounds wrong) 10:56 <popey> ah, so it could be one simple package to add 10:58 <DanChapman> faenil: ah ok. I suppose that makes sense now :-) 10:58 <faenil> :) but not sure about that, just blind guessing 10:58 <DanChapman> does sound a tad crazy to just blindly expect a package to be there :-D 10:59 <popey> yeah, I would bundle it in 10:59 <faenil> it does, but when it's not a hard dependency... 11:00 <faenil> anyway, just shooting ideas :) 11:00 <popey> :) 11:00 <popey> brb, doorbell 11:02 <popey> ok 11:03 <popey> What was the blocker on uploading to the stable channel? 11:04 <DanChapman> So on the phone development front. I'm just finishing off the contacts work. The contacts UI parts are all complete just finishing off the contact completion in the composer recipient field and the composers contact picker dialog thingy 11:04 <DanChapman> ^^ that 11:04 <DanChapman> Once that is fully working it should be good for stable 11:05 <DanChapman> Also not being able to open attachments or links is kind of annoying. But for links you can "right click" -> "copy link" to get round that. 11:05 <popey> on the phone or desktop? 11:06 <popey> (the attachment/link issue) 11:06 <DanChapman> On desktop. 11:06 <popey> there's a method for that I believe 11:07 <DanChapman> There's a custom xdg-open that i believe landed recently https://github.com/snapcore/snapd-xdg-open 11:07 <DanChapman> afaik it should just work once that's available. QDesktopServices uses xdg-open on x11 (well last i checked it did) 11:07 <popey> ah yeah 11:07 <popey> thats the one 11:09 <popey> Ok, so anything else to discuss then? 11:09 <DanChapman> Nothing my end. 11:11 <popey> ok, super. thanks DanChapman faenil ! 11:11 <popey> #endmeeting
