Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology. 11:33 <meetingology> 11:33 <meetingology> Available commands: action commands idea info link nick 11:33 <popey> Hows it going? 11:33 <JMulholland> All good here thanks, how are you chaps? 11:34 <popey> Tickety boo, M10 just arrived, fighting it! 11:34 <DanChapman> Hey popey going good thanks. 11:34 <DanChapman> JMulholland, this is an interesting bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/dekko/+bug/1580969. Basically and email can have an audio or video as it's main displayable body part. But Dekko has no way to display it. Should we have some sort of built in media player component or just some way to palm it off to somewhere else? 11:36 <faenil> hola people 11:36 <popey> standard question DanChapman: WWGD - What would Gmail do? 11:36 <popey> s/Gmail/Outlook/Whatever/ 11:36 <JMulholland> DanChapman: So there is a long-planned ’media services’ facitlity, which is essentially a universal previewer available to all apps, as and when that may arrive is another matter entirely (it was considered fairly low priority last I checked) 11:36 <faenil> popey: lol 11:36 <JMulholland> that being the case, doing your own thing in the meantime might not actually be a bad idea 11:37 <DanChapman> I suppose it would be nice to keep it contained inside the sandboxed webview as we may not be able to trust that the part is indeed what the mimetype suggests. 11:37 <popey> yeah, dont want to randomly open attachments 11:37 <popey> could be anything 11:37 <JMulholland> good point 11:38 <faenil> have a proxy to mediaplayer 11:38 <faenil> ? 11:39 <faenil> like, click -> open content hub and pass local/web url 11:39 <faenil> not the best experience, but that's the way it is supposed to work in our world I guess, or any world where everything is isolated 11:40 <popey> yes, pass through contenthub is preferred 11:41 <JMulholland> makes sense, and would likely be less work for you DanChapman? 11:43 <DanChapman> Yeah could do that. How would you say that should be displayed in the UI? have the filename etc and a button centered in the message view page? 11:47 <popey> an icon depending on the type of file? 11:48 <DanChapman> oh good idea! 11:48 <JMulholland> mime-type icons would be cool... 11:51 <popey> DanChapman: did you look any further at the snap package for dekko? 11:51 <DanChapman> Ok then, i'll give it a whirl and ping you guys to see what you think. 11:51 <popey> No worries if not, I am going to be at a sprint next week and may have some time to brainstorm with the guys on it 11:51 <JMulholland> Just refreshd my memory of how attachments are currently displayed 11:52 <DanChapman> popey, i tried some more and then gave up. It's missing some dependency or environment variable and i really don't know whhich :-D 11:53 <JMulholland> Im not sure an additional button for these would be required, the url and an icon could work nicely though and not disrupt the flow of the text within the message 11:53 <DanChapman> JMulholland, just to note this isn't about attachments but the main message body. Which is normally text can actually be anything and is handled differently in Dekko compared to an attachment 11:53 <DanChapman> So instead of text it's actually just a sound file or something 11:53 <popey> DanChapman: ok, I'll play more next week :) 11:54 <JMulholland> understood dan 11:54 <popey> yeah, ios just shows a big fat icon where the body would be iirc 11:54 <popey> (from when I receive pictures mailed to me on ios) 11:55 <DanChapman> right sorry guys i've got to run. 11:55 <popey> Thanks DanChapman ! 11:55 <JMulholland> Thanks dan! 11:55 <popey> I'll let you know how I get on with Dekko on the M10 (when I fix it) 11:56 <popey> #endmeeting
