15:00 <popey> #Startmeeting docviewer meeting 15:00 <meetingology> Meeting started Thu Mar 10 15:00:27 2016 UTC. The chair is popey. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology. 15:00 <meetingology> 15:00 <meetingology> Available commands: action commands idea info link nick 15:00 <popey> How's it going sverzegnassi ? 15:00 <sverzegnassi> i've been a bit busy this week (restarted lessons at uni) but everything's fine! you? :D 15:01 <popey> Not bad :) 15:01 <sverzegnassi> would we like to start with jenkins? 15:01 <popey> yes! 15:01 * popey pokes balloons 15:01 <balloons> ouch! 15:02 <balloons> ohh boy, docviewer + jenkins 15:02 <balloons> sad sad panda 15:02 <popey> morning :) 15:02 <sverzegnassi> haha, not the best friends :P 15:02 <popey> So really this mostly comes about because the chroots are a mess as a result of python packaging issues in samba, right? 15:02 <popey> That's the crux of this 15:02 <balloons> well it just decided to stop working yesterday or the day before. I burned quite a bit of time trying to figure out why 15:03 <JMulholland> hello! 15:03 <popey> hey JMulholland 15:03 <popey> https://core-apps-jenkins.ubuntu.com/job/docviewer-app-ci/ 15:03 <balloons> well, yes our chroots for building are handcrafted because of packaging issues 15:03 <sverzegnassi> o/ JMulholland! 15:03 <popey> part of me thinks we shouldn't have file manager being the thing that kills everything else 15:03 <popey> or at least, killing the docviewer build. 15:03 <popey> but we should have clean/pristine chroots (including bzr!) and fix filemanager another way 15:03 <popey> (samba in a ppa for example) 15:03 <balloons> well I don't know why it stopped working. We made it all work last week, and now it fails in a funny way 15:04 <popey> Right, I mean longer term 15:04 <balloons> it fails doing the upstream-libs stuff 15:04 <popey> https://core-apps-jenkins.ubuntu.com/job/docviewer-app-ci/241/console 15:04 <popey> well there's a couple of things there 15:04 <balloons> so it's not really the packages it doesn't seem like. And jenkins has been making root only dirs, denying permissions 15:05 <popey> /usr/bin/bzr: 21: /usr/bin/bzr: Bazaar -- a free distributed version-control tool: not found 15:05 <popey> what the hell is that? 15:05 <popey> why is it echoing the description of bzr out? 15:05 <balloons> no idea -- but everything else works 15:05 <balloons> and it checks out the code 15:06 <balloons> let me try one thing 15:07 <balloons> just confirming turnk fails and indeed it does -- even an older trunk 15:08 <balloons> so as far as we know then -- nothing changed, not cmake, not the build script, nor the chroot 15:08 <popey> any package updates in the chroot? 15:10 <popey> I have just successfully built one of the pending merges, and trunk locally here. 15:10 <popey> (but I tend not to update my chroot) 15:13 <balloons> right. The chroot dist-upgrades once a day 15:13 <popey> bet that borked it 15:13 <balloons> but I checked what it did 15:13 <popey> oh 15:13 <balloons> but yea, it's the only logical conclusion I guess 15:14 <popey> given I didn't update mine 15:15 <popey> can you run your "unbreak the chroot" script on it? 15:15 <balloons> well, so we don't steal all of the time, suffice to say that yes popey we should put a special samba in a ppa and use it 15:15 <balloons> and yes, we should have a script that can destory and recreate the chroot on-demand completely 15:16 <balloons> I have 2 unbreak scripts, and I did run both. 15:16 <balloons> bzr and samba and python are all a bit wonky in the chroot because of file manager 15:16 <popey> Right, so lets fix that after the meeting. Sorry sverzegnassi 15:16 <balloons> we could also have a special file manager chroot -- that might be an even quicker fix 15:16 <popey> +1 15:16 <balloons> so only it is affected by the nonsense 15:17 <sverzegnassi> no problem, popey :) 15:17 <balloons> I like that idea. I'll make a new chroot from scratch and leave file manager with what's there now 15:17 <popey> coolio 15:18 <balloons> and yea, I have my own merge that won't go: https://code.launchpad.net/~nskaggs/ubuntu-docviewer-app/restore-ap-template/+merge/288454 :-) 15:18 <balloons> so i've been feeling the pain. Sorry gents 15:18 <popey> At some point I should probably have access to that box :) 15:19 <popey> sverzegnassi: meanwhile, good news - https://uappexplorer.com/app/com.ubuntu.docviewer - nice reviews :) 15:20 <sverzegnassi> yeah, i love how the project is growing up :) 15:21 <popey> So, assuming we get jenkins working - :) - What else shall we discuss? 15:22 <sverzegnassi> sure, I'm going on with the UITK 1.3 support. there are a few braches I'll propose for merging during the weekend 15:23 <popey> Ok, looks good. are you testing with silo 50? 15:23 <sverzegnassi> yes 15:25 <sverzegnassi> Let's see for the new document browser... I hope to start next week with the prototype 15:26 <sverzegnassi> anyway, the focus for now is just the UITK 1.3 migration - again (lot of new things coming) 15:26 <popey> okay. 15:26 <popey> :) 15:27 <sverzegnassi> nothing else to discuss anyway :) 15:28 <popey> Next release to tie up with OTA-10? 15:28 <sverzegnassi> yes! 15:29 <sverzegnassi> first days of april? 15:30 <popey> Sounds good. 15:30 <popey> I've built up quite a collection of documents to test with now. 15:30 <popey> So let me know when you want some testing done (I expect in a couple of weeks?) 15:31 <sverzegnassi> ok, as soon as we fix a few things in the new pdf engine, that'd be great 15:32 <popey> Yeah 15:33 <popey> Ok, so nothing else? 15:33 <sverzegnassi> no :) 15:33 <popey> Sweet! have a great weekend! Look forward to a working jenkins :) 15:33 <sverzegnassi> me too, thanks! 15:33 <popey> o/ 15:33 <sverzegnassi> bye 15:33 <popey> #endmeeting
