13:02 <popey> #startmeeting Dekko Meeting 13:02 <meetingology> Meeting started Thu Oct 29 13:02:27 2015 UTC. The chair is popey. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology. 13:02 <meetingology> 13:02 <meetingology> Available commands: action commands idea info link nick 13:02 <DanChapman> How we all doing? 13:02 <popey> Great! 13:02 <JMulholland> well here thanks 13:02 <popey> I put a dekko meeting in for UOS next week. 13:03 <JMulholland> excellent 13:03 <popey> http://summit.ubuntu.com/uos-1511/meeting/22595/dekko-mail-planning/ 13:03 <popey> Wednesday 4pm UK Time. 13:03 <DanChapman> Should be good :-) 13:03 <popey> Excellent. 13:03 <JMulholland> +1’d 13:04 <popey> So, how are we doing with the push to get Dekko on by default? 13:05 <DanChapman> So I've almost got the online accounts plugin done which now also validates authentication with the server. 13:05 <popey> ooh! 13:05 <DanChapman> Once that's done i'll move it over the the accounts-plugins project and make a start on getting dekko to use it 13:06 <DanChapman> which should in the process clear a few of the outstanding bugs for default 13:07 <DanChapman> JMulholland: whats the best way to display a long running process you have to wait for? Should it be a dialog with an activity indicator? 13:08 <JMulholland> Hm, depends on the process I suppose. 13:08 <popey> What does browser do? 13:08 <popey> a bouncer? 13:08 <DanChapman> I'm not sure what to show while waiting for for the server validation 13:09 <JMulholland> There aren’t any examples of any processes that have the potential to be so time consuming in the broswer currently 13:09 <JMulholland> other than file transfers/downloads, but those have their own section of the UI using progress indicators 13:10 <popey> looking at other apps they just hang there :S 13:10 <JMulholland> If we can track/ report any sort of progress, the a prog indicator is likely to be the way to go 13:10 <JMulholland> otherwise one of our spinners 13:12 <DanChapman> Ok then, well I could add some progress values to the tasks and do it that way then. Should that be in a dialog to prevent user interaction? 13:12 <JMulholland> either option could be shown in a dialogue or as part of the screen the user is looking at prior to server validation 13:12 <JMulholland> but examples are few and far between at the moment, I’ll double check to see if it’s an issue addressed elsewhere 13:13 <DanChapman> Ok then, thanks! 13:13 <popey> thanks JMulholland 13:13 <popey> do we need a design bug for that? 13:13 <JMulholland> never a bad idea to keep track of these things 13:14 <DanChapman> ok, against ubuntu-ux right? i'll do that in a minute then 13:15 <JMulholland> that’s right, ping me the link if you can assign it to me for any reason! 13:15 <JMulholland> *can’t assign it to me 13:15 <popey> thanks 13:16 <popey> DanChapman, should we get a click ready for QA, for them to do some preliminary testing? 13:16 <popey> Or are you expecting some significant things to land before we do that? 13:18 <DanChapman> popey: i'd wait until Dekko can use OA as that is quite a big change in the backend. 13:18 <popey> Okay, makes sense. How far from that are we? 13:21 <DanChapman> errrm not sure. I should have a good bit of it done in the next week. 13:22 <popey> okay :) 13:22 <popey> Is there anything you need help with? Anyone we can ping to rope in? 13:23 <DanChapman> atm just getting the IMAP polld side pushed along :-) Niklas has been busy elsewhere recently 13:23 <popey> Ok. 13:25 <popey> Any other things that you need help with? 13:28 <DanChapman> Not that I can think of right now. 13:28 <faenil> :D 13:29 <popey> \o/ 13:29 <popey> Anything else to discuss? 13:29 <JMulholland> Nothing at my end 13:29 <DanChapman> Not from me 13:29 <DanChapman> :-) 13:29 <popey> \o/ 13:29 <popey> Thanks chaps. 13:30 <DanChapman> Cheers 13:30 <JMulholland> cheers! 13:30 <popey> See you next week! 13:30 <popey> #endmeeting
