dmesg a console command which outputs the kernel ring buffer - an important log for diagnosing problems in Linux. Often when something errors with hardware it will result in additional lines reported which can be seen by running dmesg in a console. Added by popey

dhcp Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, a protocol for automatic IP assignment from a router. Ubuntu uses dhclient as a DHCP client but other ones (and DHCP servers too) can be obtained from the !repos. More info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DHCP Added by tonyyarusso

debootstrap used to create a !Debian or Ubuntu base system from scratch, without requiring the availability of !dpkg or !APT. It does this by downloading !.deb files from a mirror site, and carefully unpacking them into a directory you can eventually !chroot into.
