gnome3 <reply> GNOME 3 is the desktop environment on which Unity is based. To use GNOME Shell instead of Unity, install the "gnome-shell" package and investigate "gnome-tweak-tool". amd ati fglrx amdgpu <reply> On Ubuntu, AMD's official Linux graphics driver "amdgpu" is automatically loaded for matching hardware. Very old cards use driver "radeon" (r300, r600) instead. See the !man pages for X options, "modinfo -p <graphics-driver>" for kernel parameters. Both drivers are open source and integrate with MESA and !DRI.
