12:31 <popey> hello hello hello
12:31 <faenil> o/
12:31 <DanChapman> heya :-)
12:31 <popey> How is everyone?
12:32 <dpm> o/
12:32 <DanChapman> Great thanks. Yourself?
12:32 <dpm> full house today :)
12:32 <DanChapman> hey faenil dpm
12:32 <popey> So, we have a few things I think to discuss...
12:32 <faenil> good, good
12:33 <popey> * Fallout / feedback from 0.6 upload
12:33 <popey> * MWC demos
12:33 <popey> * Notifications
12:33 <popey> * AOB?
12:33 <popey> Anything I missed?
12:33 <DanChapman> Not that I can think of
12:33 <popey> So after 0.6 there was an uptick in bug reports (also, thanks dpm for some) :D
12:34 <popey> Are those under control?
12:34 <dpm> from my side of things, I spoke to Dan already and it seems some went away after doing a full purge and reinstall of 0.6
12:34 <JMulholland> hello!
12:35 <dpm> and others were fixed in 0.6
12:35 <dpm> hey JMulholland
12:35 <popey> Right, I saw that. Perhaps we need to document that as a "get out of jail" quick-fix
12:36 <DanChapman> popey, yep i'm working on the UI freezes atm. I need some input on https://bugs.launchpad.net/dekko/+bug/1539866 as it seems to have really thrown people that there is only one reply option and that it o reply-to-all
12:37 <popey> Yeah, I wanted to raise that with JMulholland :)
12:37 <DanChapman> Which reply to all is the default reply mode unless it's a mailing list post with it reply's to list. As per previous discussions
12:37 * JMulholland looks
12:39 <DanChapman> I think if it's to keep the that part of the message view quite minimal then a preference should be in settings for the user to set a default reply mode. But you should still at least be able to change it from the composer.
12:39 <popey> +1
12:39 <JMulholland> a setting for default reply type seems like it would address this particular concern
12:40 <popey> Hm, I somewhat agree, but I do find myself using both reply and reply-all interchangably through the day
12:41 <popey> I wouldn't want my email client to hard wire one as the only way until I go and fiddle a setting
12:42 <JMulholland> the alternative is to put a reply and a reply-all button at the top of each message, might be a little cramped
12:42 <faenil> agee
12:42 <faenil> (with popey)
12:42 <JMulholland> although if memory serves we currently have a reply button with a burger menu button next to it
12:43 <popey> well, gmail has reply as default, and with a drop-down for reply-all
12:43 <popey> can we have reply default and reply-all long-press or something?
12:44 <JMulholland> well, reply all is in that little menu directly besides the reply button…
12:44 <popey> right
12:44 <popey> but it's in the same place
12:44 <popey> you don't have to go hunting for it
12:44 <JMulholland> Id suggest we replace the whole thing with a drop-down that has reply as the first option by default?
12:44 <popey> if that would fit
12:45 <JMulholland> I’ll sketch something out and see what visual design have to say
12:46 <popey> Ok.
12:46 <DanChapman> So if I hit reply-to-all but then decided I actually just wanted to reply, should i be expected to have to close the composer & reselect the correct reply action?
12:47 <JMulholland> I would certainly hope not!
12:47 <JMulholland> In the composer the user should be able to changes addressees, reply type, etc
12:47 <JMulholland> right?
12:47 <JMulholland> fairly standard stuff
12:49 <DanChapman> Yeah but that means manually removing all the recipients added from the reply-to-all action, which would be painful! Where as some way to quickly change the reply type without having to close & reset the composer would be far more convenient
12:49 <popey> I agree being able to flip / flop between r and r-a would be handy
12:49 <popey> if possible
12:49 <popey> to correct the common mistake of "oh, I hit the wrong reply"
12:49 <DanChapman> well the code already handles that case. It's just not in the UI :-D
12:50 <JMulholland> good news :)
12:51 <JMulholland> Im just wondering where we can jam in the switch to flip between reply/all
12:51 <popey> Sounds like a longer discussion we can take offline?
12:51 <DanChapman> Sure :-)
12:51 <JMulholland> yea, a bit of sketching/ updating the visuals for guidance may be required
12:52 <popey> Ok, any other critical ones from 0.6?
12:52 * dpm pastes discussion in the bug
12:52 <popey> thanks
12:53 <DanChapman> Just a few crashers but i've patched most of them now. The others were about using/accessing system contacts & avatar images & saving to drafts (which should be in 0.6.2)
12:53 <popey> Ok.
12:53 <popey> So, MWC demos. I think the guys going to MWC would like to demo a bunch of apps, including dekko.
12:54 <JMulholland> indeed!
12:54 <popey> I'd like to get data from those (Joe / Richard etc) to find out if there's any bugs affecting them
12:54 <popey> That perhaps we can prioritise before then?
12:55 <JMulholland> sounds good, I can set something up here at the office with them and dial you in if you’d like popey?
12:55 <popey> That would be great
12:55 <popey> Even just some notes / bug reports :)
12:56 <popey> Thanks JMulholland
12:56 <DanChapman> ok great. Yeah definitely, just let me know what they would like prioritising :-)
12:56 <popey> I could pop into london next week actually.
12:56 <JMulholland> Even better :)
12:56 <popey> Ok, deal.
12:57 <popey> Next on the agenda, notifications.
12:57 <popey> DanChapman, where are we with that?
12:58 <DanChapman> No further along atm. I still need to restart the email thread. Which I'll do that after this meeting.
12:59 <popey> Ok
13:00 <popey> So, AOB?
13:00 <dpm> I have a couple of things
13:01 <dpm> first of all good work on 0.6, really enjoy using it both on the phone and desktop :)
13:01 <DanChapman> :-D thanks
13:01 <dpm> DanChapman, also, this probably doesn't come as a surprise, but we're looking into adding Dekko as preinstalled to the upcoming OTA
13:02 <popey> \o/
13:02 <faenil> \o/
13:02 * faenil runs, time up :)
13:02 <JMulholland> \o/
13:02 <faenil> cya next week gentlemen
13:02 <DanChapman> \o/
13:02 <faenil> DanChapman: feel free to poke me, as usual :)
13:02 <DanChapman> cya faenil. Will do! :-)
13:03 <DanChapman> when is the next OTA ?
13:03 <dpm> seems we need to update the dates :)
13:03 <dpm> https://launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+milestones
13:03 <popey> Due for beginning of March
13:04 <popey> heh, that's a bit wrong
13:04 <DanChapman> dpm, also I presume that would be without notifications? Not sure there is the man power to get that done before then
13:04 <DanChapman> ok cool thanks
13:04 <dpm> DanChapman, yeah, I think from what you're saying, that would be without notifications
13:04 <JMulholland> "ota10 2016-02-25”
13:06 * DanChapman makes note in calendar
13:06 <popey> When Pat wakes we'll get him to update the milestones.
13:06 <dpm> yeah, tried to ping him, but he's not online yet
13:07 <dpm> I think next will be to figure out the logistics of doing the release and how to add it to the image
13:08 <dpm> popey, DanChapman, JoeO tells me it's the 10th of Feb!
13:08 <popey> Hah, okay.
13:08 <popey> I find that unlikely.
13:08 <dpm> ota 9.5
13:08 <JMulholland> I thought 9.5 was last Friday?
13:08 <dpm> yeah, I hadn't realized it'd be that soon
13:08 <DanChapman> Oh that's not long at all
13:08 <dpm> JMulholland, probably got delayed
13:09 <JMulholland> after all that hard work we did last week… thanks dpm :)
13:09 <dpm> DanChapman, popey, so we might just want to start the discussion with the release team, figure out if it's doable, and if not target ota10
13:10 <popey> Ok.
13:10 <DanChapman> Ok sounds good.
13:10 <popey> We will probably also need to provide manual tests for QA
13:11 <popey> Assuming they will want to QA before inclusion ;)
13:11 <dpm> DanChapman, how is dekko's coverage in terms of testing?
13:11 <dpm> automated/manual tests, I mean
13:14 <DanChapman> Test coverage isn't very extensive atm tbh, the imap/smtp stuff is quite well covered and some unittests for the UI in places. and only a few manual tests. And "no" autopilot tests :-D
13:16 <DanChapman> But I can spend a day and get pretty good manual tests together if QA require it
13:18 <DanChapman> also it would be great if there are any bugs that should be fixed before the next ota get added https://bugs.launchpad.net/click-sync/+bug/1477210
13:18 <popey> Ok
13:19 <popey> Anything else to discuss?
13:19 <DanChapman> nothing my end
13:19 <JMulholland> nothing here, as ever ping me if anything comes up Dan
13:19 <dpm> I've got a couple of questions to DanChapman, but they're rather for bugs, so I can just ping outside the meeting
13:19 <DanChapman> Thanks, will do :-)
13:20 <popey> Magic.
13:20 <popey> I look forward to many more people emailing via dekko :)
13:20 <popey> Thanks everyone
