11:04 <popey> Did the car pass? :)
11:04 <DanChapman> Yes, all went fine with car thanks :-)
11:05 <popey> \o/
11:05 <popey> And thanks, reminded me that mine is due on Wednesday!
11:05 <popey> So booked in.
11:05 <popey> Anyway, dekko!
11:05 <popey> Hows things going?
11:06 <DanChapman> :-D yes things are going good. Got quite a few things landed this week.
11:07 <DanChapman> Viewing offline, Caching avatars, setup wizard fixes and the experimental notification support but that's hidden in the developer settings section
11:07 <popey> ooh!
11:07 <DanChapman> Also boren has been silently working on the address book. I think he has conenction issues with his vpn so i don't hear much from him atm
11:08 <DanChapman> ahh and also I have started figuring out the convergence parts https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwhxYaiA7z1qTUIwUjB2VXFjSDg/view?usp=sharing is where i'm up to.
11:09 <popey> ooh, video
11:09 <popey> hah, all those test mails
11:09 <DanChapman> it's not much but it's a start.
11:09 <DanChapman> lol
11:09 <DanChapman> i frequently spam myself
11:09 <popey> heh
11:09 <popey> Looking good.
11:10 <popey> We should think about x86 builds
11:10 <popey> I've been testing fat packages of some of our apps on my desktop running unity8/mir
11:10 <popey> I realise you're not done yet with the convergence work.
11:10 <popey> But at some point we should look at either making a fat package, or maybe putting an x86 beta build in the store
11:10 <DanChapman> Yeah definately, I have a fat package script somewhere not sure if it still works though (it's old)
11:10 <popey> what do you think?
11:12 <popey> A fat package might be really chunky
11:12 <DanChapman> As a fat package it's going to be HUGE! current footprint is ~40MB
11:12 <popey> yeah, it'll be 3 times that
11:12 <popey> for armhf/amd64/x86
11:12 <popey> might be worth making one just to see what size it is
11:13 <DanChapman> heh ok i'll get one together and see how large it actually is
11:14 <popey> if you could let me have it, I can test on my laptop here
11:14 <DanChapman> Have you managed to persuade anyone to help with notifications yet? ;-p
11:14 <DanChapman> ok will do
11:15 <popey> No, need to chase that up. Everyone seems to be at sprints, so will chase next week
11:15 <DanChapman> I have also implmeneted the notifications service so it can run as a seperate binary. Which I think would be good to use with a polld hook. It basically connects, fetches envelopes send notifications for recent mail and closes. So it doesn't sit in idle when running from that binary
11:15 <DanChapman> ok sweet
11:16 <popey> nice!
11:17 <DanChapman> Is OTA-4 still planned for next week?
11:18 * DanChapman has a HUGE backlog of updates to release
11:18 <popey> Apparently so.
11:19 * popey asks QA
11:20 <popey> You thinking of releasing a dekko update once OTA-4 hits?
11:20 <DanChapman> yes once it's landed.
11:21 <popey> 12:20 < jibel> popey, when it is ready?
11:21 <popey> 12:20 < jibel> popey, we are still validating the latest fixes
11:21 <popey> so, no ETA yet
11:21 <popey> "soon"
11:21 <DanChapman> heh ok then.
11:22 <DanChapman> I've also finally come up with a solution to the message list scrolling woes. But it resulted in limiting the amount of messages we load in 1 go. :-/ Do you think 50 messages at a time is an ok amount?
11:23 <DanChapman> You have to do the good old "Load more message" when you get to the end of the list
11:23 <DanChapman> Performance is still pretty good doing 100 at a time, but krillin starts to bog down going past that
11:23 <popey> 50 is huge
11:24 <popey> IMO
11:24 <DanChapman> Great, it flies along at 50
11:25 <DanChapman> It could even be made configurable I suppose.
11:27 <popey> Not sure it needs to be, tbh
11:28 <DanChapman> ok then :)
11:28 <DanChapman> I don't think I have anything else today. Just some questions for JMulholland but they can wait for when he get's back from hols
11:29 <popey> Ok.
11:29 <popey> Looking forward to testing the fat click on this manky laptop
11:29 <popey> I think my laptop is comparable with a fast phone :)
11:30 <popey> Ok, have a great weekend DanChapman :)
11:30 <DanChapman> I can't get unity8 to run on my laptop
11:30 <DanChapman> :-(
11:30 <popey> oh?
11:30 <popey> http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-desktop-next/backup-20150422/
11:30 <popey> thats the one I'm using
11:30 <DanChapman> I tried both unit8-lxc i just get a login loop and usb won't even boot
11:30 <DanChapman> oh i'll try that one then
11:30 <popey> what video card?
11:31 <popey> i had the same issue with my nvidia desktop
11:31 <popey> had to completely purge all nvidia driver and reinstall nouveau
11:31 <popey> then it works
11:31 <popey> (unity8-lxc)
11:31 <DanChapman> intel ironlake mobile i think. (never actually checked to see)
11:31 <popey> but I now have a separate laptop I have installed above iso onto. it's not fast, an old thinkpad x61s
11:31 <popey> ohh, should work.
11:31 <popey> but yeah, try that iso above
11:32 <popey> I had more success with it
11:32 <DanChapman> Ok cool will definately try that one
11:32 <popey> great
11:32 <DanChapman> Thanks, and have a great weekend as well
11:32 <DanChapman> :-D
11:32 <popey> o/
