The chair is popey. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology. 15:05 15:05 Available commands: action commands idea info link nick 15:05 how are you sverzegnassi ? Good break? 15:06 I'm fine, I had a great time during the break! Hope you had the same! 15:06 I did ☻ 15:06 This week I pushed latest trunk of docviewer to the store 15:07 Did you want to talk about the license issue? 15:08 The code I'd like to take from sailfish-office is GPL v2-only licensed 15:08 If I'm not wrong, our document viewer is GPL v3-only software 15:08 Ok. 15:09 So the first thing I'd do is contact the author of sailfish-office and ask if they'd consider releasing under gpl v3. 15:09 That would be great 15:09 Would you like me to do that, or do you want to? 15:10 I'd prefer if you do that, since I have no much spare time in these days (I have an exam on 13th, Jan) 15:10 Ok, no problem. I'll do it. 15:10 Got a link to the project page handy? 15:11 https://github.com/sailfishos/sailfish-office 15:11 thanks 15:12 I found the mail in the code header. Robin has been very kind the last time 15:12 I'll let you know 15:12 Great. 15:12 ok! 15:13 Hm, as it's based on calligra we may not have much luck. 15:13 but we can talk to them anyway. 15:14 Hmm. 15:14 As it's a separate library, can't we use it anyway? So long as we ship their gpl v2 code, and our gpl v3 code.. that should be fine I thought 15:15 * popey pokes mhall119 who is more of a license nerd than me 15:16 huh what? 15:16 mhall119: hello! 15:16 morning 15:17 hi! 15:17 docviewer is gplv3, we're interested in using https://github.com/sailfishos/sailfish-office (which is based on Caligra) and is GPL v2 only (not 'or higher') 15:17 using all of it, or part of it in one of our apps? 15:18 a lot of it. 15:18 ok, our quick list of options are: 15:19 (A) Ask them to separate the reusable parts and re-license them as LGPL (v2 or v3, doesn't matter) 15:19 (B) Ask them to re-license the whole thing at GPLv3 15:19 (C) Relicense all of our app at GPLv2 15:20 I *think* we can license ours at "GPLv2 or higher" and still incorporate their "GPLv2 only" code, as long as people know they can't re-license those parts under an "or higher" license 15:20 but that would get messy 15:20 right, we'd need to be clear in the source tree, which bits are which 15:21 but I don't think it's unreasonable to do 15:21 so long as we document it in the license file 15:21 I'll contact them. Thanks mhall119 15:22 sverzegnassi: What else do we need to discuss? 15:23 popey: it might be that the Calligra bits they use are already LGPL 15:23 popey: Not much to discuss! The other things I was working on are still WIP. 15:23 Ok. I'll get in touch, do some research and get back to you asap sverzegnassi 15:24 Ok, thank you! 15:24 Good luck with with your exam! 15:25 I hope to keep the grade I took in the first part of the exam :P 15:25 Thank you! 15:25 sverzegnassi: Ok, have a great weekend, I'll be in touch by mail. Thanks. 15:26 Ok! Cheers! Have a nice weekend! 15:26 #endmeeting Generated by MeetBot 0.1.5 (http://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology)
