13:01 <popey> lets find jouni
13:01 * popey poked him
13:02 <popey> Ok, so we have a freeze on the phone for testing of an image before ideally promotion on friday.
13:02 <popey> I'd like to try getting music 2.0 in there tomorrow
13:02 <popey> Up to you guys which rev you think we should go for, or if you think it's not ready we can hold back.
13:02 <ahayzen_> the only mp i see that is left to possibly add to the current one is this https://code.launchpad.net/~vthompson/music-app/remix-fix-1390252/+merge/241159
13:02 <popey> hi jounih
13:02 <jounih> hey
13:02 <ahayzen_> other than that i don't think there are any known issues things outstanding to land... vthompson ?
13:02 <ahayzen_> jounih, o/
13:03 <vthompson> ahayzen_, and that's a pretty low risk item to include too
13:03 <jounih> how’s things
13:03 <popey> ooh, i like that
13:03 <vthompson> ahayzen_, no, I don't think we have anything else waiting to land
13:03 <ahayzen_> vthompson, yeah pretty low risk and i prefer the icon
13:03 <popey> jounih: what do you think of https://code.launchpad.net/~vthompson/music-app/remix-fix-1390252/+merge/241159
13:03 <ahayzen_> oh god not fire alarm testing day /o\
13:03 <popey> specifically http://i.imgur.com/cAzkPzo.png and http://i.imgur.com/kWT2NtE.png
13:04 <jounih> yeah we were emailing about this with victor yesterday
13:04 <ahayzen_> popey, the branch looks different to that?
13:04 <vthompson> popey, yea, our decision is different
13:04 <jounih> those two screenshots are how it used to look like
13:04 <popey> ok ☻
13:04 * popey shuts up ☻
13:04 <jounih> but we decided to do something different
13:05 <popey> oh the wibbly line?
13:05 <ahayzen_> +1 to what the something different looks like :)
13:05 <jounih> victor found a swap icon that makes more sense for view switch
13:05 <vthompson> yep
13:05 <popey> sorry, i recall now.
13:05 <jounih> and we would like to have “add to playlist” and “clear queue” on both views
13:05 <jounih> in the overflow
13:06 <popey> Right, makes sense.
13:06 <popey> I'd like to see that too.
13:06 <ahayzen_> ok well i've checked out the code so we're happy with design i'll approve :)
13:07 <jounih> thanks :)
13:07 <vthompson> ahayzen_, sounds good to me
13:07 <ahayzen_> \o/
13:07 <jounih> something unrelated.. I’ve been thinking a lot about streaming past few days. I know it’s not on the immediate roadmap, but might be nice
13:07 <jounih> streaming from aggregated sources
13:07 <ahayzen_> that was asked in UOS ?
13:07 <jounih> have you seen this http://www.tomahawk-player.org/index.html?1
13:08 <vthompson> jounih, yea, tomahawk is nice
13:08 <jounih> would you see tomahawk as a separate app, or would we want to integrate some similar features in Music app?
13:08 <popey> I still think music app should focus on doing one thing _really_ well.
13:08 <jounih> given that most people probably stream their music these days
13:08 <popey> play local music
13:09 <vthompson> I'm inclined to agree with popey
13:09 <ahayzen_> yeah same
13:09 <jounih> so a separate app for streaming?
13:09 <jounih> somewhere down the line?
13:09 <vthompson> but, we should still think about streaming and what that could mean in the app
13:09 <popey> There's room for a Tomahawk app, a Spotify app etc
13:09 <popey> or a generic app.
13:09 <popey> but one app keeping up with those APIs, UI differences.. ugh.
13:09 <jounih> it would be one UI i think
13:09 <vthompson> and I think Spotify, Last.fm, etc would probably want their own branded app
13:10 <jounih> how does tomahawk aggregate the content?
13:10 <popey> I envisage the store having Music app for local, spotify, tomahawk and $other apps, and generic radio streaming apps like tunein
13:11 <vthompson> I've actually only recent installed tomahawk, after reading some of the recent blog reviews of it. I haven't used it to play content other than local content
13:11 <vthompson> I'm not really sure
13:11 <jounih> let’s have a play with it
13:11 <jounih> i understand one app doing one thing really well
13:11 <jounih> but the reality is a lot people these days don’t have much local music and stream everything from various sources
13:12 <ahayzen_> `Make each program do one thing well.`
13:12 <vthompson> jounih, yea, the only way I can see us doing it is to have a separate tab for this type of content and then having just that view dedicated to aggregate content
13:12 <popey> I'd love to see a streaming focussed app, sure.
13:13 <jounih> vthompson: yeah for instance
13:13 <jounih> let’s play with tomahawk and see what it’s like
13:14 <popey> Ok.
13:16 <ahayzen_> So after this mp lands are we happy with what we have for rtm? and everything else is then for ota1 or +1 right?
13:16 <jounih> we’re doing some motion design atm for view changes
13:16 <jounih> would prob be ota1 though
13:16 <vthompson> popey, I forget, what's the timeframe for ota1?
13:16 <popey> So whatever we choose to upload this week will probably be a final one.
13:16 <popey> vthompson: that shifting sand
13:17 <popey> i don't know the answer for today
13:17 <vthompson> I can't think of anything else that's left to be done that could be done in the next day or two
13:17 <ahayzen_> the only thing i have that is WIP and could *possibly* make it is refactoring the way recent is detected...but that can probably wait for ota1
13:18 <vthompson> ahayzen_, agreed. It doesn't provide any difference to the user and it is kind of a risky change
13:18 <vthompson> ie, right now there is a regression in it
13:18 <ahayzen_> yep
13:18 <popey> recent seems to work okay at the moment, and yeah, I don't want to break that ☻
13:18 <ahayzen_> i'll delay that until after we land in rtm then :)
13:19 <popey> thanks
13:19 <vthompson> popey, ahayzen_ will we want to make a vivid branch like some of the other apps have done?
13:20 <popey> Been holding off that until there's a need to.
13:20 <vthompson> popey, perfect, we'll wait for the next ms2 or media-hub fiasco
13:20 <ahayzen_> after rtm our focus of trunk will before ota1 so i guess there is no need *yet* ?
13:20 <ahayzen_> *become ota1*
13:21 <vthompson> agreed
13:21 <popey> yeah.
13:22 <vthompson> ahayzen_, popey, once we get jounih's motion designs and start reworking bottom edge. how do we want to prioritize work we'll be doing for ota1?
13:23 <vthompson> trello? bugs?
13:23 <popey> Whatever you prefer.
13:23 <ahayzen_> bugs seem to be working well for us recently
13:23 <ahayzen_> do we need to add more milestones to lp so we can target the next few weeks?
13:23 <vthompson> cool, I agree that using bugs will work well
13:23 <vthompson> ahayzen_, yea, we might want to do that... but without knowing ota1 date that might be somewhat difficult
13:24 <ahayzen_> we can still add week-XX and then target things for this week/next week etc so at least we know the timeframe of things
13:24 <ahayzen_> i'm sure popey will tell us when we getting close to ota1 ;)
13:25 <popey> hah, when I find out!
13:25 <ahayzen_> exactly :)
13:25 <vthompson> Sounds good to me then
13:25 <ahayzen_> so when this mp lands in a few minutes we build a click and fire across to QA?
13:27 <vthompson> ahayzen_, sounds reasonable to me. popey?
13:27 <jounih> i’m testing tomahawk. pretty nice. UX is confusing but it does seem to stream stuff from various sources, within one UI
13:27 <popey> +1
13:27 <ahayzen_> sweet!
13:28 <popey> I'd be interested in maybe a separate branch of music which included streaming in a separate view
13:28 <popey> which could be merged with trunk later?
13:28 <ahayzen_> yeah i guess we could work on a view separately and then if we decide it is good enough merge it in?
13:28 <popey> yeah.
13:28 <ahayzen_> or split it off if we decide it isn't
13:29 <popey> exactly.
13:29 <ahayzen_> vthompson, maybe this could be done with our 'restructure'
13:29 <vthompson> popey, jounih, yea, we can explore. I'd want to make sure that the streaming view wasn't just some hacky streaming source playing that would appeal to geeks
13:29 <popey> +1
13:29 <ahayzen_> as i sense lots of things internally that would need to change to detect if the item is local/external
13:29 <popey> would be good to get platform support for spotify ☻
13:30 <ahayzen_> eg would the recent items have both local and external items
13:30 <vthompson> It should be just as visually peasing as the rest of the app
13:30 <ahayzen_> oh FYI that mp has landed
13:30 <vthompson> \o/
13:30 <ahayzen_> popey, shall i update the readme?
13:30 <vthompson> ahayzen_, yea, we could try to integrate the different sources
13:30 <popey> ok
13:30 <vthompson> My thought is that we'd segregate them and have aggregate content only on it's own view
13:31 <ahayzen_> interesting
13:31 <popey> I'll post to the list and do local testing here as per http://pad.ubuntu.com/MusicAppManualTesting
13:31 <vthompson> It might be confusing to try to integrate them in a mobile app
13:32 <ahayzen_> popey, i've updated the readme file
13:32 <popey> so 744 is the one we're aiming to promote?
13:33 <ahayzen_> yep #744
13:33 <popey> thanks.
13:33 <popey> brb doorbell
13:34 <popey> back
13:34 * vthompson uploads new a deb package to his ppa
13:34 * ahayzen_ pushes click to device for testing :)
13:35 <popey> \o/
13:36 <popey> So any feedback on my manual testing etherpad?
13:36 <popey> http://pad.ubuntu.com/MusicAppManualTesting
13:36 <popey> have I missed much?
13:36 <ahayzen_> i think you've covered all the basic tasks
13:37 <popey> plus autopilot of course.
13:37 <popey> I'll send a mail in the morning assuming all is okay
13:37 <vthompson> maybe testing playlist deletion removing songs/etc
13:37 <popey> to the team who approve this stuff
13:37 <popey> ah yes, good call
13:37 * ahayzen_ runs ap on device
13:38 <ahayzen_> ah yes i need to move my music...
13:38 <jounih> vthompson: yeah i agree the streaming section should look like the rest of the app. I think it’s doable
13:38 <vthompson> ahayzen_, did you not read the README? ;)
13:38 <ahayzen_> README? ...who reads instructions :P
13:39 <vthompson> jounih, agreed, or at least it's worth exploring
13:39 <popey> :D
13:40 <popey> Ok. Anything else to discuss?
13:40 <ahayzen_> not from me
13:40 <vthompson> nothing here
13:41 <popey> \o/
13:41 <popey> Thanks guys!
13:41 <popey> Will file bugs if I find any.
13:41 <vthompson> yes!
13:41 <vthompson> later guys
13:41 <popey> 743 has been rock solid for me so far.
13:41 <popey> o/
13:41 <ahayzen_> o/
13:42 <popey> jounih: should we expect more design from you this week? (empty state for example) ?
13:42 <jounih> yeah, empty states and some motion are coming
13:42 <jounih> maybe some tablet layouts
13:43 <popey> Awesome, look forward to it.
13:43 <popey> thanks guys!
13:43 <ahayzen_> thanks popey jounih vthompson
13:43 <jounih> thank you guys!
