14:33 <popey> How are you doing surgemcgee ?
14:33 <surgemcgee> Good,couldn't sleep, but...
14:33 <surgemcgee> Who is popey?
14:33 <popey> Sleep is for the weak, apparently.
14:33 <popey> popey = Alan Pope.
14:33 <surgemcgee> Ha
14:33 <popey> mhall119 is Michael hall
14:33 <popey> dpm is David Planella
14:34 <surgemcgee> Right on
14:34 <popey> So as this is the first of our regular catch ups I'll just let you know what we tend to do
14:34 <popey> We generally use this as a catch up between you and us, (and any other developers we get on board)
14:34 <popey> but of course you can get in contact with any of us via irc / mail etc at any time
14:35 * mhall119 waves
14:35 <popey> this just gives us a focussed time to catch up and make sure we're on track
14:35 <popey> we usually go through the blueprint, have a look at the work items, make sure they have the right status, and are assigned to the right people
14:35 <dpm> hi surgemcgee, I'll be on and off this meeting, but nice to meet you :)
14:35 * dpm waves too
14:35 <popey> and bring up any issues / problems etc.
14:35 <surgemcgee> Alright, coll, cool
14:36 <popey> we can help find people to answer your questions if we don't know the answers ourselves.
14:36 <popey> I'm super excited to have your app as a core app, and can't wait to see how it develops
14:36 <popey> are there any questions from you surgemcgee before we crack on?
14:37 <surgemcgee> Just general stuff regarding the proccess
14:37 <popey> Fire away.
14:37 <surgemcgee> I don't know how much is sub-standard or where to start.
14:38 <surgemcgee> Hmmm...
14:38 <popey> How do you mean, sub-standard?
14:39 <surgemcgee> Lets continue, most of what I need to know can be fleshed out with your starup direction
14:39 <popey> Ok, cool!
14:39 <popey> So if you look at the burndown chart, that's one of our key ways of seeing if we're on track
14:39 <popey> link above..
14:40 <popey> basically we're trending towards the bottom right of the graph
14:40 <popey> and we aim to keep the orange "to do" items under the black line
14:40 <popey> as you can see we have lots and lots of to-do items, spread over lots of apps - so not all yours! :D
14:40 <surgemcgee> Ok, I do get the agile thing (somewhat).
14:41 <popey> if you click the yellow word "Todo" just below the graph you get to http://status.ubuntu.com/coreapps-13.10/todo.html
14:41 <popey> and if you search that page for "stock" you find the ones for this app
14:41 <popey> so this is one view on the "stuff left to do"
14:42 <popey> some items rely on other teams, so may be "blocked".. they're on http://status.ubuntu.com/coreapps-13.10/blocked.html (also linked from the main burndown chart)
14:42 <popey> so for example some are waiting on design or the sdk team
14:42 <popey> our job is to help unblock those
14:42 <popey> so if you ever get blocked on something, just let any of us know and we'll do what we can to help unblock it
14:43 <popey> hope that all makes sense.
14:43 <surgemcgee> Ya, not too scary
14:44 <popey> so, https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone-commons/+spec/stockticker-coreapps-development looks quite bare
14:44 <popey> we need to think about what needs to be done before october
14:45 <popey> oh, and we're currently in coreapps-13.10-month-3 milestone - the milestones are listed at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone-commons/+milestones
14:45 <popey> coreapps-13.10-month-3 ends on 2013-07-16
14:46 <popey> so basically anything we expect to land then should be tagged in the blueprint as coreapps-13.10-month-3, and clearly later stuff goes in subsequent milestones
14:47 <popey> so surgemcgee / dpm / mhall119 - are there any features / enhancements you'd like to see in the stock app before October?
14:47 * mhall119 doesn't know much about stocks
14:47 <popey> surgemcgee: have you tried the app on a device, or just on the desktop?
14:48 <dpm> I for one would like to see a solid QA infrastructure, as we've been doing with the other apps, so lots of autopilot and unit tests
14:48 <mhall119> what I'd really like to see is it looking more like the other core apps
14:48 <surgemcgee> I do feel like many of the features are integrated so far. I want to get the code prefessionally structure too.
14:49 <surgemcgee> but the Ubuntu them is important now?
14:49 <surgemcgee> What do you mean doesn't know much stocks?
14:49 <surgemcgee> *theme
14:50 <popey> i think mhall119 was saying he hasn't had much chance to play with the app yet.
14:51 <surgemcgee> Ohh, ok So we create work items based around this line of thinking?
14:51 <popey> yeah, so for example, we might create a work item for redesigning the home screen
14:51 <popey> or a work item for adding an "add stocks autopilot test"
14:51 <surgemcgee> Ok, so how does a work item get labled blocked
14:51 <mhall119> popey: surgemcgee: I meant I don't know what people generally look for or care about in a stock ticker
14:51 <popey> ah okay mhall119 ☻
14:52 <popey> http://popey.com/~alan/device-2013-06-26-154857.png thats what the app looks like on the phone when you first start it
14:52 <popey> I think it should probably start with a few stocks pre-chosen?
14:52 <popey> rather than a splash screen.
14:52 <surgemcgee> Hmm, that can be aranged.
14:53 <surgemcgee> Also, I need to get Yahoo logos in there? I think it will be smart/required.
14:54 <popey> Whatever the minimum the terms of use say we have to put in, really ㋛
14:55 <popey> We only have a few minutes left of todays meeting..
14:55 <popey> I'll add a couple of work items to the blueprint now...
14:55 <mhall119> so I just heard back from Lucas, and he's happy to do some design work for the stock ticker, he just needs a list of requirements
14:55 <surgemcgee> Ok has anyone objected to any of the code (structure, quality, design, etc..)?
14:56 <surgemcgee> Ahhh, nice!
14:56 <popey> i dont think anyone has looked yet
14:56 <popey> I'll see if I can find someone to review the code
14:57 <popey> ok, added a couple based on our discussions to https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu-phone-commons/+spec/stockticker-coreapps-development
14:57 <popey> oh, good news about Lucas, I love his Music app designs.
14:58 <surgemcgee> Also, I dont have a device, so you would be best to contact for some feedback? (a suckers list, haha :)
14:58 <popey> me ☻
14:58 <popey> I have a Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, and can test any time and provide screenshots and videos
14:58 <popey> I will also file bugs and attach screenshots, okay?
14:59 <surgemcgee> Ok thanks Also, I didn't seem like much design to me, is there two music apps?
14:59 <popey> I'll start playing with the app this week and report bugs I find.
14:59 <popey> there were, we have combined them into one
14:59 <popey> got the two developers working together
14:59 <popey> We're pretty much out of time...
14:59 <popey> any final questions before we wrap up for today?
14:59 <surgemcgee> Untill next time, thanks guys.
15:00 <popey> thanks surgemcgee !
