15:32 <Laney> #topic qengho
15:32 <andyrock> o/
15:32 <qengho> - transitioning chromium to new build system, GN, off of GYP. - chromium snaps - zfs utilities testing.
15:32 <qengho> EOF
15:32 <Trevinho> \o
15:32 <qengho> Ow, man, all on one line.
15:33 <Laney> compression
15:33 <qengho> Indeed. Newlines cost money.
15:33 * Laney skips the people that are away
15:33 <Laney> #topic attente
15:33 <attente> hi all
15:34 <attente> gnome-software hackfest last week, some patches merged upstream as well as some feature requests
15:34 <attente> trying to fix up some update-all stuff for a new release
15:34 <Laney> are you getting the branch in shape?
15:34 <Laney> we should update thursday latest
15:34 <attente> Laney: trying
15:35 <Laney> and file bugs for the remaining issues
15:35 <Laney> then SRU those later on
15:35 <attente> need to fix some bugs right now
15:35 <Laney> we're going to have to release note some stuff
15:35 <attente> maybe tonight or tomorrow for a new release
15:35 <Laney> so whatever you know of, keep it in mind
15:35 <Laney> like "why oh why are some apps randomly marked as third party?"
15:36 <Laney> if you have time could you test the new dpkg plugin please?
15:36 <attente> sure
15:36 <Laney> hughsie split it out but I doubt it actually got tested
15:36 <Laney> merci!
15:36 <attente> yeah, a bit worried because cherry picking the update-all stuff doesn't work either
15:36 <Laney> conflicts?
15:37 <attente> fixed the conflicts, but still running into a segfault
15:37 <Laney> mmm
15:37 <Laney> in the worst case we hide the button again
15:37 <attente> also some other unmentionables
15:37 <Laney> and SRU this change
15:37 <attente> ok
15:37 <Laney> I saw the notification with actions too
15:37 <Laney> should make sure that is turned off properly
15:38 <attente> right
15:38 <Laney> think there was a commit to check XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP there to take, or write
15:38 <attente> he said it should be in the gs-utils
15:39 <attente> anyways (eof)
15:39 <Laney> thx
15:39 <Laney> #topic tkamppeter
15:39 <tkamppeter> - cups-filters: Determined what needs to be done to make it support MuPDF as PDF interpreter. Should be possible to get it done by two GSoC students.
15:39 <tkamppeter> - cups-filters: Flattening filled forms is no problem with cups-filters with all three PDF interpreters thanks to rastertopdf (with all interpreters we can generate PWG Raster)
15:39 <tkamppeter> - PWG (Printer Working Group) has released IPP Everywhere standard so that printer manufacturers can self-certify. Very important step for driverless printing.
15:39 <tkamppeter> - Google Summer of Code 2016: Student selection, request of slots at Google, mentor assignment
15:39 <tkamppeter> - Bugs.
15:40 <Laney> cheers
15:40 <Laney> #topic TheMuso
15:40 <Laney> * Finished implementing a solution for accessibility profiles to be
15:40 <Laney> available and usable in the mate flavour.
15:40 <Laney> * Bug fixes for Braille and alsa to fix various bugs that have been
15:40 <Laney> reported.
15:40 <Laney> * Spent time tracking down what I thought was a race condition in mate with
15:40 <Laney> accessibility. Sometimes Orca wouldn't read the desktop. Turns out I had to
15:40 <Laney> wait a bit, and all worked. Why its not responsive on first start I don't
15:40 <Laney> know, but it does work.
15:41 <Laney> #topic Laney
15:41 <Laney> gnome-software sprint too
15:41 <Laney> hopefully most stuff is going upstream
15:41 <Laney> did some code for it like adding the usage of libapt
15:42 <Laney> the rest of the week I will be working on this too, probably not much else before release
15:42 <Laney> although I will try to sponsor some stuff
15:42 <Laney> #topic Trevinho
15:42 <Trevinho> · Fixed indicator-session race that caused "Restart..." menu item to be shown in unity
15:42 <Trevinho> · Fixed a regression in BAMF matching for desktop-less apps
15:42 <Trevinho> · Investigating the no-menus on fresh-boot issue (really can't reproduce, looks like a race in gtk parsing of the menu-model, since Hud works)
15:42 <Trevinho> · Improved andyrock bamf and Hud branches to reduce memory usage, removing X properties dependencies and sharing the action menus.
15:42 <Trevinho> · Hud tuning

15:43 <Laney> thx

15:47 * happyaron looks at that excited Laney
15:47 <desrt> o hai
15:48 <desrt> working on untangling a big mess right now.. we never considered what would happen with dbus-activatable apps if we had an app with '-' in the bus name
15:48 <desrt> turns out we have a bunch of those and it's a mess...
15:48 <Laney> isn't that not allowed?
15:48 <desrt> i was going to force everyone to rename their apps because seb was away and i hope he wouldn't notice, but then i remembered that he's coming back soon
15:48 <desrt> so instead, we're just going to say that '-' is good from now on
15:49 <desrt> well, the problem stems from the fact that we need to convert the desktop file name into a dbus object path and object paths cannot have '-'
15:49 <desrt> gapplication has an old trick to use '_' instead, so we're just copying that around to a few more places
15:49 <desrt> the funny thing is that a bunch of apps list DBusActivatable=true, install service files, the whole nine yards, but have a '-' in the name, so have been silently falling back to fork()/exec() the whole time
15:50 <Laney> haha
15:50 <desrt> the best case is gnome-font-viewer which installs a service file that has an Exec=gnome-font-viewer --gapplication-service
15:50 <Sweet5hark> desrt: so we are testing the fallback verrry well>
15:50 <mhall119> Laney: when you're done crowbar-ing gnome-sofware into xenial, could you help muon do the same?
15:50 <mhall119> https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/muon/+bug/1562406
15:50 <ubot5`> Launchpad bug 1562406 in muon (Ubuntu) "[FFe] Update to latest upstream version" [Undecided,Confirmed]
15:50 <desrt> but gnome-font-viewer doesn't actually accept --gapplication-service as a valid commandline option
15:50 <desrt> pretty hilarious
15:51 <desrt> the only reason it worked at all is because it has '-' in the name and has been using the fallback path
15:51 <desrt> anyway... i'll have this all sorted out by end of day, hopefully :)
15:51 <Laney> mhall119: I'm not likely to be done ever EVER ever EVER - try pitt_i?
15:51 <desrt> otherwise, florida was awesome
15:51 <desrt> eof.
15:51 <Laney> did you go to disneyworld?
15:51 <desrt> no
15:51 <desrt> but i went to nasa
15:51 <desrt> and we saw the CRS-8 falcon9/dragon launch
15:52 <desrt> first successful touchdown on the drone ship. very exciting.
15:52 <desrt> it was _loud_
15:52 <Laney> hell yeah
15:52 <Laney> #topic Sweet5hark
15:52 <Sweet5hark> - bumped xenial to 5.1.2 along with upstream
15:52 <Sweet5hark> - code review (upstream)
15:52 <Sweet5hark> - triaged and fixed bug 1566050 upstream (do we want to bump LibreOffice for this in Xenial still? AFAICS its "only" a crash on exit ...)
15:52 <Sweet5hark> - was in Munich for TDF/LibreOffice, opportunity to meet the state secretary of the federal german ministry for economics
