The chair is seb128. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology. 15:32 15:32 Available commands: action commands idea info link nick 15:32 #topic attente_ 15:32 attente_, hey 15:32 argh so close.. if I only knew why I would get black decoration for compiz.. 15:32 resolve im-config not running under unity 8 15:32 figured out why gnome-tweak-tool is fixed with a new gtk... it fixes it because it breaks the thing (o-s) that breaks gnome-tweak-tool, ended up just applying the background change to a different widget, thanks Laney 15:32 debug crasher in fcitx-qimpanel, merged upstream 15:32 still trying to get ibus-ui-gtk working under mir, i have a rough idea why it's not working... 15:33 oh right. Laney's off i guess 15:33 he is 15:33 let me know if you need sponsoring or something this week 15:33 sure. maybe happyaron can do another upstream release of fcitx-qimpanel 15:34 happyaron, ^ that would be good :-) 15:34 attente_, did you see my msg earlier about u-c-c not listing any ibus options on a current vivid livecd session, is that expected? 15:34 seb128: yeah, i just looked at that in a vm. it won't list anything that isn't already installed 15:35 which i think was pretty much always the behaviour of u-c-c 15:35 how are users supposed to add chinese to their inputs? 15:35 so removing ibus-pinyin would mean that there's no ibus engines 15:35 oh, right 15:35 seb128: isn't that supposed to be through language-selector 15:35 ? 15:35 we declared that fcitx is what chinese users use 15:36 so we replace ibus-pinying 15:36 gotcha 15:36 right 15:36 attente_, thanks, that makes sense 15:36 seb128: what's kind of bad is now we have ibus but it isn't really working from the image without any engines 15:36 :/ 15:36 yeah, well before it was doing only chinese I guess? 15:37 yeah 15:37 that was always the behaviour of u-c-c. to only list the installed engines 15:37 so not a big difference, most locales go through "install for their locales, get the ibus package, then be able to configure from your session" 15:37 right 15:37 installed systems should have the ibus support pulled through language-selector 15:37 attente_, thanks 15:38 seb128: thanks 15:38 #topic desrt 15:38 hey 15:38 desrt, hey, not sure if you are able to join? 15:38 finished the file monitor branch and landed that after we branched stable 15:38 so we'll have faster file monitors not in vivid, but in W 15:38 nice 15:38 ironically, although it was supposed to fix crashes, it seems i messed up something on kqueue and the freebsd guys are screaming about crashes now 15:39 so i'm gonna be looking into that 15:39 also cleaned up and submitted the ghandle stuff for review.. probably that lands in the next week 15:39 and releases, of course 15:39 that's all 15:39 other than lots of discussions about the cycle to come... 15:40 any idea of what's coming next already? 15:40 or still having ongoing discussions? 15:41 lots of plumbing type fixups in glib 15:41 not sure what's happening gtk-side in the next cycle 15:41 but as usual we've been updating the roadmap 15:41 https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GTK%2B/Roadmap 15:41 k 15:42 desrt, anything else? 15:42 nope 15:42 desrt, thanks 15:42 #topic didrocks 15:42 didrocks, hey 15:42 hey 15:42 Ubuntu Make: 15:42 - as pip upstream is still discussing about the "right" solution to get pip install working as an user by default, added just a small patch I was waiting on for handling the sudo case: if pip runs as root, fallback to old system-wide behavior. That way, scripts using "sudo pip install" will still install system-wide python packages on vivid (we didn't get bug report, but I was expecting it will break 15:42 people's scripts). 15:42 systemd: 15:42 - continued to spend some time triaging the incoming systemd related (or not!) bugs. 15:42 - upstart wasn't starting anymore as a boot option. That was clear thanks to autopkgtests as well. Fix it by doing some package transitions (upstart -> upstart-sysv, upstart-bin -> upstart), involving autopkgtest, init-system-helpers, systemd, ubuntu-touch-meta and upstart (bug #1422681). The good news is that we didn't break any image build (neither Touch) once the transition was completed. \o/ For 15:42 your information, now: starting upstart by default is an "apt-get install upstart-sysv" away, and starting systemd by default is an "apt-get install systemd-sysv" away. 15:42 - helped the ubuntu core team on various systemd issues on upload (autopkgtests breaking: xorg, display manager not starting…) 15:42 - missing dbus machine-id issue fallbacking directly to systemd machine-id fixed. 15:42 Misc: 15:42 bug 1422681 in ubuntu-touch-meta (Ubuntu) "split out upstart-sysv" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1422681 15:42 - couple of patches for snappy (go version) to get better shell completion and minor bug fix. 15:42 - more MIR process discussions. 15:42 ☘ 15:42 (as Laney isn't around) 15:43 hm how can I make a screenshot from the command line? :P 15:43 mlankhorst, using another device? ;-) 15:43 :/ 15:44 didrocks, thanks for stepping up for the weekly utf8 char :-) 15:44 mlankhorst: import -window root ~/Pictures/$(date '+%Y%m%d-%H%M%S').png 15:44 seb128: always ready for this! :) 15:44 might work 15:44 didrocks, thanks 15:44 depends on your system reall 15:44 y 15:44 #topic larsu 15:44 ok 15:44 larsu, hey 15:45 hi! 15:45 I ventured into thin-scrollbar land this week 15:46 turns out it's a gtk bug. Filed upstream today with a patch (some tricky sizing issues) 15:46 also some theming that goes along with it 15:46 tried making the spacing problem for the new decorations on headerbars o away, but it's too complex. Needs discussion with upstream 15:47 started looking into the nautilus sizing thing today 15:47 fixed backgrounds in gnome-desktop 15:47 (hidpi issues) 15:47 started looking into doing the same for unity-greeter, but that has some comments about not using gnome-desktop in there 15:48 and lots of open bugs about not supporting gradients, tiling, etc. Want to talk to robert before doing any work there 15:48 maybe he already has a plan 15:48 also the ususal code reviews etc. 15:48 15:48 larsu, thanks for helping on the hidpi issue 15:48 sure 15:48 was quite tricky 15:49 I'm unsure why the greeter is not/doesn't want to use libgnome-desktop, I guess that's one for robert_ancell 15:49 but I'm happy with the way it turned out 15:49 me too :-) 15:49 good job! 15:49 it's in vivid and oem confirmed it works with ubiquity 15:49 seb128: ya, I started hacking before realizing maybe I should talk to him first 15:49 seb128: nice! 15:49 maybe email is best with robert_ancell 15:49 or get online after 10pm to catch him 15:50 larsu, anything else? 15:50 I don't think so :) 15:50 * larsu doesn't take good notes 15:50 well, I think you already have quite some work in that summary, no worry if it lacks some details ;-) 15:51 (that's why I usual add my "usual share of bugs & discussions" ;-) 15:51 thanks larsu 15:51 bringing up ubuntu on the tegra with nouveau drivers! 15:51 mlankhorst, hey, last meeting with us it seems :-( 15:52 the tegra K1 specifically, I tried to get a screenshot for this but it seems the hw doesn't like me right now :P 15:52 indeed, last meeting :) 15:53 mlankhorst, good luck for your next adventures! 15:53 it was nice to work with you 15:53 thanks for all the fish! 15:53 I hope we still see you around and that you keep using Ubuntu :-) 15:53 I might, I still want to get ubuntu running on this! 15:53 great ;-) 15:54 o/ 15:54 o/ 15:54 see you mlankhorst, hope you will enjoy your next challenge :) 15:55 yeah :) 15:56 thanks mlankhorst 15:56 ok, next 15:56 #topic qengho 15:56 qengho, hey 15:57 no qengho? 15:57 #topic Sweet5hark 15:57 Sweet5hark, hey 15:57 hey 15:57 - finished the round of Writer refactoring. gory details here: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/some-notes-on-SwClient-and-SwModify-td4144122.html 15:57 - doing politics at CeBIT 15:57 - looking into snappy now 15:58 - some high-pri updates on the horizon 15:58 EOF 15:58 Sweet5hark, what sort of politics? ;-) 15:58 seb128: not for public consumption yet. willcooke knows more ;) 15:58 k 15:58 thanks Sweet5hark 15:59 #topic happyaron 15:59 happyaron, here? 15:59 seb128, they're at a meeting with NUDT 15:59 (I guess not since he didn't reply to pings earlier) 15:59 willcooke, thanks 15:59 tkamppeter, hey 16:00 no tkamppeter? 16:00 ok, my turn then? 16:00 #topic seb128 16:00 seems so :) 16:01 • u-s-d battery info hotkey 16:01 ∘ fixed keybinding not working, vivid + SRU 16:01 • u-s-d vivid landing 16:01 ∘ including pending bugfixes 16:01 • u-s-d/compiz focus for windows started by keybindings 16:01 ∘ backported g-s-d patch to correctly focus windows displayed from media key bindings, needs unity change, discussed that with Trevinho and tested/confirmed that his patch makes u-s-d work 16:01 • gnome-desktop fix for bg hidpi issue 16:01 ∘ discussed changes, tested fix (thanks larsu for taking over and fixing it properly!) and uploaded 16:01 • some reviews and landings of pending bugfixes (ido, o-s) 16:01 • developers.u.c, design guidelines and uitk 16:01 ∘ reported some more bugs (some with proposed changes) against 16:01 • click/unicode issues 16:01 ∘ hit some of those while trying to build a click with non ascii filename, looked a bit at the issue and report a bug 16:01 • review of vivid desktop status, tried current daily for desktop and desktop-next, looked at e.u.c top reports, some bug triaging 16:01 16:02 ok, next 16:03 #topic robert_ancell 16:03 Worked on: 16:03 - TPM PCR support 16:03 - More Indic font tidying up 16:03 - lightdm 1.14.0 release 16:03 - simple-scan 3.16.0 release 16:03 Currently working on: 16:03 - TPM 16:03 - Release critical fixes for 15.04 16:03 - X Mir / X handover 16:03 #topic TheMuso 16:03 * Finished implementing accessibility support for the scope icons at the bottom of the Unity 7 dash window, started working on improving accessibility of the filter settings. 16:03 * More installer accessibility testing. 16:03 #topic other topics 16:03 ok, any other topic? still no qengho or tkamppeter? did I forget anyone? 16:04 quick reminder about https://wiki.ubuntu.com/VividVervet/ReleaseSchedule 16:04 we are in beta freeze now 16:04 still some weeks to polish and get vivid bugs fixed though 16:05 k, seems there are no other topics 16:05 thanks everyone 16:05 #endmeeting Generated by MeetBot 0.1.5 (http://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology)
