patch <reply> Patches are files describing the changes in code to achieve some results. There are a number of ways these can be produced, but https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToFix and http://developer.ubuntu.com/packaging/html/patches-to-packages.html may provide some useful guidelines. debdiff <reply> A simple way to patch Debian/Ubuntu packages is to attach a debdiff to a bug report, or send it to the team which handles the package. Learn more about it from http://packaging.ubuntu.com/html/traditional-packaging.html#creating-a-debdiff Added by Tm_T

3rdparty <reply> Packages contained in 3rd party repositories are not included in Ubuntu for a reason. Whether this be poor packaging standards, bugs or malicious authors. You should trust the maintainers of these repositories before using them. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=297814 for consequences. Added by ompaul
