debootstrap used to create a !Debian or Ubuntu base system from scratch, without requiring the availability of !dpkg or !APT. debconf a configuration management system. All packages that support debconf are configured when they are being installed. If you want to change a configuration option later, you can do so using dpkg-reconfigure Seveas

deb .deb installdeb gdebi the Debian package format, also used by Ubuntu. To install .deb files, simply double-click (in Ubuntu) or click (in Kubuntu) on them to start the GDebi utility. apokryphos
